The indigenous model of the national cancer screening plan with artificial intelligence was unveiled in Mashhad.

The unveiling of this indigenous model was held in the presence of Dr. Seyed Sajjad Razavi, Deputy Minister of Health and Medical Education, and Brigadier General Ahmad Akhavan Mahdavi, Commander of the Combat Medical Service of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Ground Force.

The head of Imam Hussein Hospital in Mashhad, at the unveiling ceremony of the aforementioned model in thyroid cancer screening, said: Reducing healthcare costs, reducing pain and anxiety in patients, using local data in the country, designing based on the global standard system, automatic detection of nodules in the image, and image evaluation and risk estimation, and providing nodule treatment management in about 0.06 seconds are among the benefits of the decision-making assistant system.

Dr. Seyed Nasser Hosseini added: Accelerating the identification and effective treatment of cancer and improving survival rates, reducing the time and cost of screening, the possibility of performing initial screening in conditions of lack of access to a doctor in deprived areas, detecting the presence of a mass and its benign or malignant nature in cancer, examining mammography images and detecting a malignant mass in less than a second are among the advantages of this model in breast cancer screening.

He continued: “Imam Hussein Hospital, as the only IRGC ground force hospital in the northeastern region of the country, is active around the clock and has at least three thousand visitors daily.”

Screening is an important strategy for cancer diagnosis and treatment.

The Deputy Minister of Health and Medical Education also said at the ceremony: “Timely diagnosis of cancer plays an important role in reducing costs. Cancer screening in the world usually costs $600 to $700, but cancer treatment costs $50,000 to $70,000.”

Dr. Seyed Sajjad Razavi added: “We should consider screening as an important strategy for the health of the people in society.”

The combat commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Ground Forces also stated: “The ultimate goal of smart hospitals is to ensure better care for patients, reduce costs, provide integrated and accurate services, and reduce the level of risk and unexpected events.”

Brigadier General Ahmad Akhavan Mahdavi added: “The Supreme Leader of the Revolution said that we should be among the top 10 countries in the world in artificial intelligence, and we believe that the use of artificial intelligence in hospitals is the right of the people, given its benefits.”

He continued: “Imam Hussein (AS) Hospital in Mashhad is among the leading hospitals in the use of artificial intelligence and should be among the top 10 hospitals in the field of software and hardware.”
